(More customer reviews)I just used this rack for a 4 day, 340ish mile trail tour from DC to Pittsburgh. I hung two panniers off of it. To do that I had to rig up a system with bungees to keep the panniers out of the spokes but overall it worked pretty well. Unfortunately with less than 20 miles left the weld between the stays on the lower right side broke. The rack still works well enough for town use and I think I'll support it with a zip tie at least for a while. I don't believe that it would have broken if it weren't for the fact that I had been regularly loading it with more than 30lbs. (once I might have loaded it with closer to 40lbs.) and was riding on trails with rough spots.
If loaded with 20-25lbs. and used primarily on smooth terrain it should work great. I did not feel that it changed my breaking ability at all. I will very likely purchase another one.
