(More customer reviews)I won't give this basket a 5 star review, since it is heavy and fussy to mount. Other than that though, it's great. My Chihuahua mix likes it, it's roomy and strong with a flat bottom. You could carry even a medium sized dog with this basket. I had a smaller wicker "pet cruiser" before, but this is a lot better. The flat bottom means that take out food arrives home in reasonable shape. The struts on the bottom give the basket good support, so you can take some pretty heavy items. It will hold a case of beer with room to spare. Four full grocery bags fit easily. Once I carried 42lbs of cat litter, dog food and charcoal home from the supermarket. That was too much, but I made it home and it didn't break.
I notice that my Wald 957 basket has a large steel plate on the bottom, and that's not shown in the stock photos for the basket. This makes the basket both strong and heavy. If you are looking for a load carrier, this is probably Wald's strongest basket. I also own the Wald 139 which looks great on my retro Schwinn Coffee cruiser. For most people, the 139 is probably a better choice since it is smaller, easier to mount, and lighter weight. Just don't try to carry a case of beer with the 139, because it will crumple.
This basket is not going to appeal to the carbon fiber and spandex crowd, but if you want to turn your bike into a pickup, this is the way to go.
