I bought this bag because I was tired of switching my current saddle bag between my mountain and road bikes. The design of this one caught my eye: I liked the expanding side pocket idea, and I also thought the quick-release way the bag attaches under the seat rails looked convenient. When the bag arrived, I installed it on my mountain bike, and proceeded to load it up. I got my tool bag, keys and phone in the main central pocket, a spare tube and my wallet in one side pocket, and my jacket stuffed into the other side pocket. I set off on my ride, and at first was quite pleased: the bag didn't sway too much, and the back of my thighs only barely brushed the expanded side pockets when I was way back in the saddle on descents. A few miles into my ride, I stopped for a water break, and saw to my horror that the zipper on the main compartment had broken, and my tools, keys and cell phone were all missing, having fallen out of the open compartment. I spent nearly 45 minutes working my way back along the trail, and amazingly, managed to find all three of my items. I put them back in the main compartment, used a couple of zip ties that I carry in my tool bag to cable-tie the main compartment shut around the broken zipper, and decided to continue my ride. A few more miles later, I got another unpleasant surprise when the bag suddenly swung out from under the rails and into my left leg. The cause? The place where the quick-release attaches to the seat rails had broken through (the bolts were still clamped to the saddle rails, but the plastic mount had failed in two places), and the bag was now only attached by a single velcro loop to my seatpost. At this point, I had to take everything out of the bag, and stuff all of my gear and the remains of the bag and the mounting hardware into my jersey pockets, making for an uncomfortable ride back home. Needless to say, I'm returning this defective piece of equipment. Maybe this bag would have been OK on a road bike with no bumps and smooth sailing, but I'm not that aggressive a mountain biker, so it's hard to say that excessive bumps caused all this damage with less than 6 miles on the odometer with the bag installed. My conclusion: with construction this cheap, your money would be better spent elsewhere.
