XLC Frame Bag, Black Review

XLC Frame Bag, Black
Average Reviews:

The bag seems very well made. I like the shoulder padding along the diagonal side (the hypotenuse if you will). Attachment is sturdy enough.
Be careful with the size! This is a right-angle triangle, where the two short sides are 18cm - 6 inches - each. I should have checked more closely before because it turns out this is a bit too small for me. 18cm sounds much bigger than 6 inches...

Tacx Cyclespider Professional Bicycle Repair Stand - TA-3025 Review

Tacx Cyclespider Professional Bicycle Repair Stand - TA-3025
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
the construction on this stand is very impressive. assembly is very simple. the whole stand is a bit heavier than you might expect, but that shows how solid it is. 2 complaints:
the adjustment for height uses the same lock clamp as the adjustment for rotation. so... to be able to rotate the bike freely youd have to open that clamp and let it drop to the lowest height. it would be preferable to be able to keep it at a set height while rotating.
then handlebar holder is one of those mystical pieces you run across now and then that blows your mind, because it not only doesnt work, but it is incapable of ever working in any way, and its impossible that anyone at thd factory ever tried it. once. maybe im doing something wrong, or maybe i got the wrong pieces, but it has these rubber straps that theoretically go around your handlebar and seat stem, but there is no chance of them staying attached to the holder. impossible.

IceToolz Bi-Stand Repair / Display Stand Review

IceToolz Bi-Stand Repair / Display Stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just what I was looking for! The name may say Repair/Display stand, BUT I use it 95% for holding the bike when not in use. I will use it for cleaning, and maybe some repair. I needed a stand to store my mountain bike that does not have a kickstand. I've been leaning it against the wall when home, and against my vehicle when starting and finishing a ride. I've scraped the wall, scratched the vehicle (as the bike slid down) and in one really tricky move, managed to break a tail light. So something clearly needed to be done. I tried a less expensive model but it didn't work with my bike. But this stand has a rail type holder instead of the cheaper hook, on the bottom, and it is just perfect. Light and easy to take with me, but sturdy and supportive when in use.

Paddleboy PB Flyer Bike Cart Review

Paddleboy PB Flyer Bike Cart
Average Reviews:

I honestly believe that if someone wanted to start a lawsuit, who ever made this bike cart should be on the other end. They made an attachment piece out of plastic. Seriously, the bike to trailer attachment is plastic. It's rated to 100 lbs and on the first trip it couldn't even pull a light kayak. A second issue was the frame sawing through the aluminum bolts. This is a simple design with crappy materials.

Turn to the eye-catching PB Flyer bike trailer, which totes canoes, kayaks, surfboards, and sailboards as heavy as 75 pounds. About Paddleboy The very first Paddleboy cart was born out of pure selfish concern. In 1995, dedicated paddler Brian Witt struggled to transport his canoes and kayaks across the park and down to the water. As any paddler without a cart knows, this kind of lugging uses energy that should be reserved for paddling. Witt knew there had to be a better way, so he designed a prototype cart that became the essence of every canoe and kayak enthusiast's dream: less lugging and more paddling. Today, Paddleboy Designs--located in Seattle, Washington--is the only watercraft cart manufacturer to offer both end and center carts, as well as one of the most supportive, competent dealer networks in the country.

Softride Access Bicycle Hitch Rack Ski Rack Attachment - 24232 Review

Softride Access Bicycle Hitch Rack Ski Rack Attachment - 24232
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the Softride hitch-mount Dura bike rack. When I found out about this ski attachment, I was excited about the convenience of living my hitch rack mounted through the winter.
The top plate (upper square plate that has slots for attachments) has square plastic fittings in the slots. Those broke after one day of use. There is a big design flaw in my opinion- the slots on the top plate are actually round, but the plastic fittings make it square to fit the bike attachments. This ski attachment fits into the square fittings loosely- way too much wiggle! That's what caused the fitting to brake. The 45 degree angle puts a lot of torque on the fittings. Softride customer service was great- they replaced them quickly. They had me take the ski attachment to my local bike shop just in case the "wiggle" present was from my rack's top plate, but it wasn't. Apparently that's the way it fits in all top plates. The customer service rep said that their engineers have determined that the wiggle was an acceptable amount. It was NOT for me. I didn't bother trying it a second time. I returned it.
The Dura rack with the bike attachments works great and I will definitely keep that. Just avoid the ski attachments.

Dahon Jack 26-Inch Folding Mountain Bike Review

Dahon Jack 26-Inch Folding Mountain Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I use this bike to get around New York City. It's the first bike I've bought for myself brand new, and it's exactly what I was looking for. First off, it's very sturdy. The city is hard on bikes, but this thing can take it. I've flipped the thing (my fault, not the bike's), had it land in front of me, and it took barely a ding. Stayed unfolded. The fat tires are great for potholes, and the kevlar belting gives you a little piece of mind as you fly through a minefield of glass shards.
The folding feature was the main reason I bought the Jack, and it was mainly to avoid theft. First and foremost, I can keep it in my apartment. That's a huge plus. Second, the tires are right next to each other when the bike is folded, which allows you to throw a chain or cable through both tires, around the frame and even under the seat if you prefer a quick release (the bike comes with QR levers on both tires and the seatpost). I can get a kryptonite chain around the frame and through both tires when locking to a street sign. A word of warning: if you think you're getting a bike that will fold up small enough to take with you into the grocery store, get a bike with 20" wheels. The Jack is full size, so it's still a big bike when it's folded, and it's almost 30 lbs. If you're worried about the bike unfolding while you're on it, don't be. It doesn't happen.
The only thing I'm not crazy about on the bike are the handlebars - they're a little wider than I'd like, and I'd prefer bullhorn bars to the MTB/cruiser style, but that's a personal preference, and the standard oversize clamp leaves you room to customize.
I've formed a very strong connection with this bike. It's definitely not right for everyone, but if it's for you, I think you'd know from looking at it. If you think it's right for you, I say go for it. It's been good to me.

Hit the trail, the boardwalk or a winding two-lane in five seconds or less. And you won't a need a rack for this mountain bike, as a conventional trunk will do. The Dahon Jack is straightforward transportation for on and off road, featuring a simple seven speed 37-101-inch gear array and a beefy Joe Murray design 7005 double-butted aluminum frame with forged lattice hinge and a head tube made with patented ReBar technology. Other features include an integrated, straight blade fork, a Dahon Fusion headset with a Zero stack cartridge, and a WTB Speed V saddle attached to an aluminum, Microadjust seat post to ensure comfort and stability. The NVO InfiniteAdjust stem is made for instantaneous stem height adjustments, and the braze-ons for rack and mud guards will accommodate any trail gear you want to add.
Assembly of the Bike: This bike comes mostly assembled. Minor assembly is required before the bike can be used.
About Dahon The Dahon story begins in 1975. At the time, Dr. David Hon, founder of the company, was a physicist at Hughes Aircraft Corporation in California, working on highly classified government research projects. Considered a leading expert in solid-state laser technology, Dr. Hon had already been awarded numerous U.S. patents for advancements in laser technology. Breakthrough laser technology that he and his team developed would later be used on NASA space shuttles, US missile guidance systems, and laser-guided anti-aircraft guns. Despite his success, Dr. Hon eventually found the work unfulfilling, because his energies were devoted to instruments of war, rather than for the betterment of society. Then, in 1975 came the oil and gas crisis and the seed for Dahon was sown.
One afternoon, in his third week of waiting in hour-long lines to buy gasoline for his car, Dr. Hon was struck by the magnitude of the world's dependence on oil, a non-renewable resource that would likely be depleted within the lifetime of his grandchildren. Brainstorming for solutions to weaken the world's dependence on oil, Dr. Hon ended up going back to his primary mode of transportation in college--the bicycle. Totally clean, and just as important, cheap enough for people around the world to access, Dr. Hon considered the bicycle to be a good candidate as a solution. While the bicycle was perfect for short trips, it was not practical for longer trips, for example, if you lived 30 miles from work. The bicycle needed to be improved and transformed, to make it more broadly functional and needed to integrate more readily with other forms of environmentally-sustainable transport, like trains and subways. Dr. Hon's solution: a portable folding bicycle.Working evenings and weekends in his garage over the next seven years, Dr. Hon built dozens and dozens of prototypes, trying to perfect a folding bicycle that would maintain the riding performance of a regular bicycle but would fold quickly and to a compact size.
Amazon.com Bicycle Buying Guide Finding the Right BikeTo really enjoy cycling, it's important to find a bicycle that works for you. Here are some things to keep in mind when you're in the market for a new bike:
The Right Ride In general, bikes are broken down into three major categories:
Road and Racing Bikes--As a general rule, road and racing are built for speed and longer distances on paved surfaces. Thinner tires, lightweight 29-inch (700c) wheels and drop bars that allow for a more aerodynamic position are the norm. Most road bikes, regardless of price, offer many gears for tackling both hilly and flat terrain.
Mountain Bikes--With their larger tires, hill-friendly gearing and upright position, mountain bikes are very popular for all types of riding, both on pavement and off. Mountain bikes that are designed specifically for rugged trail use typically feature a suspension fork. Some may have rear suspension, as well. A quick change of the tires on any mountain bike--even one that you use regularly on trails--adds to its versatility and makes it a worthy street machine.
Comfort/Cruiser Bikes--For tooling around on bike paths, light trails, or for cruising a quiet beach-side lane, comfort/cruiser bikes are the ticket. With a super-relaxed riding position, padded seats, and limited or no gearing, these bikes are made for enjoying the scenery and having fun with the family.

The Right Price A bike's price boils down to three essentials: frame materials, bike weight, and component quality and durability.
Entry-level--You'll find a wide range of comfort and cruiser bikes in this category, as well as some lower-end mountain bikes and road bikes. Most will have steel frames and components that are designed to last for several years with frequent use.
Mid-range--Bikes in this range may feature a lighter aluminum frame with mid-range components that keep performing after miles of use. If you're looking for a quality bike that is relatively lightweight and will stand up to abuse, this is the "sweet spot." Most serious commuter and touring bikes fall into this category, as do mid-range mountain bikes with a decent front suspension.
High-end--Racers and serious enthusiasts who expect lightweight, high-performance components will want to stick to this category. For road bikes, exotic frame materials (carbon fiber, titanium) and ultra-lightweight components can add thousands to the price tag. Mountain bikes in this class often feature advanced front and rear suspension technology, as well as components designed to handle lots of rugged trail action.

The Right Size Fit is crucial for comfort, control, and proper power and endurance on a bike. Here are some basic bike fit tips:
Stand-over Height--To find out if a bike's overall height fits your body, measure your inseam. Next, determine how much clearance you'll need between your crotch and the top tube of the bike. For a mountain bike, you'll want three to five inches of clearance. A road bike should offer between one and two inches of clearance, while a commuter bike should have two to four inches. Compare the stand-over height for a given bike to your measurements (inseam + clearance) to determine the right bike height.
Top Tube Length--You can measure your torso to get a good estimate of proper top tube length. First, make a fist and extend your arm. Measure from the center of your fist to the end of your collarbone (the part that intersects your shoulder). Next, measure your torso by placing a book against your crotch with the spine facing up. Measure from the spine to the bottom of your throat (the spot between your collarbones). Finally, add the two measurements (arm length + torso length), divide the number in half and subtract six inches. This is your approximate top tube length. Compare this number to a bike's posted top tube length. You can allow for about two inches longer or shorter, as most bikes can be adjusted via stem length/height and saddle fore/aft position to make fine adjustments to the fit.
Bikes for Women--Proportionally, women tend to have a shorter torso and longer legs than men. Bike makers design women's bikes that offer a shorter top tube and many comfort/cruiser bikes built for women may also provide more stand-over clearance.

The Right Accessories When you make a bike purchase, don't forget these crucial add-ons:
Helmet (this is a must!)
Seat pack
Lock
Hydration pack, or water bottles and bottle cages
Spare tubes
Portable bike pump
Gloves

Sunlite Crank Mount Bicycle Display Stand Review

Sunlite Crank Mount Bicycle Display Stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used to work in a bike shop that used these for displaying the higher end bikes.
It took me a while to find this stand online, but I'm very glad I did.
This stand fits all types of bike cranks, including skinny one-piece cranks, and the reasonably fat Campy Chorus carbon crank.
Using one of these per bike takes up less space than any other bike stand when multiple bikes are side by side. It's also pretty easy to move the bike with the stand attached.
The stand is vinyl coated to prevent scratching of the crank, but with heavy (daily bike shop) use the vinyl can wear off, exposing the metal.
These do take some assembly requiring one allen wrench and one box wrench.
The bike stand is not as stable as wall mounted or floor anchored - the bike will fall over if you give it a good shove.
Highly recommended.

I have a Hobie Pro Angler kayak, which at a fully loaded weight of 138lb provides a unique set of loading challenges!! The Showboat provides the answer. Combining with the 78" bars, Mako Aero saddles and suitable technique, my yak loads easily and stays rock solid secure.

Great price and fast shipping. The hot/cold gel pack is wonderful. However, the position of the gel pack was below the area where my pain was. Like a torn rotator cuff the pain was at the point of the shoulder and the gel pack pouch position was below the shoulder on the side. Too bad it didn't have two pouches to position the pack where the pain was.

Axiom Atlas Handlebar Bag 323 cubic inches Black/Silver Review

The outer compartment of this bag is large enough for an iPod or cell phone, keys, wallet, sunglasses and maybe a couple of other small items. The large inside comparment is big enough for tools, lunch and a paperback book, or in my case, tools and binoculars. My binoculars are compact, but the compartment is large enough for full-sized binoculars or a camera. The included shoulder/waist strap means that I can remove the bag from my bike if I want to walk a bit, or leave my bike for some other reason. It attaches/detaches quickly and easily. The excellent service from Niagara Cycle Works was the icing on the cake, but I won't put that in my bag.

Electra Wicker Bicycle Basket with Straps Review

Electra Wicker Bicycle Basket with Straps

I bought this for my fiancee to stick on her cruiser bike. All in all the basket is very well made and is sizeable so it holds a good deal of whatever you wish to put in it.
The only real problem I have with it is the straps built into it are not placed as well as they could be to attach them to specific bikes. In my case I had to break parts of the back of the basket to move the leather straps into a more effective place. Of course they cannot predict this for every bike, but keep in mind if you buy it you may have to rearrange the straps in order for it to hold to your bike properly.
