Blackburn Mars 1.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light Review

I bought this fast for immediate use from a limited selection available in a bike shop and was pleasantly surprised by its overall performance. Build quality (for plastic) feels adequate, it mounts easily enough, installing batteries is quick, and best of all it's a surprisingly bright light with a flash mode that's a dependable attention-getter to car drivers without being obnoxious to fellow bikers behind you on say a suburban bike path. No drawbacks for me, and it's definitely visible from the rear for several hundred feet under city streetlights (and of course further on a dark unobstructed bike trail).
I'm pleased with it, and for $10 it's a great choice for bike-path riding. However, if you plan to commute or your route brings you into the same lane with cars with any frequency, I'd spend the extra $15 and upgrade to the $25 Planet Bike Super Flash, which so far is the brightest tail light I've seen anywhere. (click above for my review).I can't contrast either the Mars 1 or the SuperFlash to the other higher-power Blackburn products because I just haven't seen them yet.
So for casual riding and bike trail riding, this is a great choice. To share lanes with cars, I'd play it safe and go with the Planet Bike Super Flash ($25).

New Bicycle Bike Trainer Indoor Fitness Exercise Stand Review

New Bicycle Bike Trainer Indoor Fitness Exercise Stand
Average Reviews:

Unfortunately, the stand would not work with my 26" "beach bike" or as some would say "cruiser bike," because of the way the rear sprocket assembly is on the bike itself. Per the instructions, it calls for the skewer to go through the sprocket assembly so the ends of the skewer would fit against the chrome spacers to hold the rear wheel in a way so the rear tire would be placed off the ground, but allowing the rear tire to touch the spinner which is on the trainer to give it the proper resistance.
Now, I gave it 5 stars, rather than 1 because it was not the product that failed, it was the type of bike. The product itself and all of the other parts are strong pieces. Machined correctly. Therefore, I strongly agree the product is wonderful, built to last and I recommend the trainer. The seller was absolutely the very best!! I kept him informed all the way through the process and we both hated to see that the trainer would not work on my wife's bike.

Blackburn Mars 3.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light Review

Blackburn Mars 3.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light

First impressions often lead to purchases which the passage of time reveals as mistaken. Such was the case with this light. True, it is very bright and well constructed to resist the elements. Then, the defects emerge.
Firstly, the batteries must rather laboriously be changed by removing three tiny screws, which although ensuring a tight seal in wet weather, are also prone to becoming lost or simply cross-threaded with repeated use. Use this light on a daily basis and it will deplete the batteries fairly quickly, whereupon one must fetch the small screwdriver and take out the little screws, taking care that they don't roll off the counter and disappear forever.
The second design defect of note is the brittle plastic attachment clip. Mine finally snapped under the stress of routine use, owing to the manufacturer's befuddling choice of an inferior yogurt container-type of plastic.
If you ride a lot and want dependable gear, I suggest Planet Bike's stuff, which exhibits a comparable level of operating performance but much better design.

Blackburn TrakStand Mag 3 Review

Blackburn TrakStand Mag 3
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, I provided a pictures above of my setup with my 06 Specialized Allez. Stable as a rock, the magnet gets abit hot after a an hour of riding, and the noise is almost non-existent with a road bike (tv or radio provided). I wouldn't recommend with a mountain bike for the noise unless you throw some slicks on for the winter.
Resistance is perfect for BEGINNERS or just simple winter training to stay in shape. I bought this to NOT buy a gym membership and have been satisfied ever since.
Setup was a breeze by taking it out of the box, extending it, and fitting it to my bike. In all, about 10-15 minutes after fitting and I was biking.
I gave it 4/5 because the skewer's are tricky. They have to be adjusted everytime, on both sides to level the tire. Other trainers might have a fixed skewer on one side so you only have to adjust one. Both have to be used, which isn't much of an inconvenience but its one less thing I would like to not worry about.
